Thunderbird
Category: Avian Flying Cryptid
Found In: Mt. Echidna, Mt. Typhon, Chimera Zone. Occasionally flies over Landon and Nemean Lion Zones.
Description: A large eagle with white, black, or brown feathers.
Height: 8 feet tall on two legs
Weight: 400-450 pounds
Wingspan: 65-70 feet
Durability: Able to withstand bullet fire, with the exception of a shot gun at close range. It is also resistant to fire and extreme voltages of electricity, such as one would find in a thunderbolt, which has been a topic of study at Echidna Island.
General Temperament: Thunderbirds seldom attack land creatures, making them rather fair tempered, but they can be very territorial. A hungry thunderbird has no problem picking up a creature as large as a human and flying away, and it is theorized that they can carry larger creatures though this has never been proven.
Enemies: Kongamatus, Lindwurms, Yetis
Prey: Athols, Yetis, anything smaller than itself.
Special Abilities: Thunderbirds can withstand immense heat, carry large animals away without any lose of speed, and are able to fly for hours without stop.
Athol
Category: Mammalian Flying Cryptid
Found In: Cerberus Zone, Chimera Zone
Description: A large vampire bat
Height: 6 Feet when standing on four legs
Weight: 250-300 pounds
Wingspan: 30 feet
Durability: Poor for cryptid standards; it can die with a single shot from a pistol.
General Temperament: Athols eat both meat and blood, and while they prefer prey that is about the size of a cat, a single Athol has no problem with eating something the size of a small child and a flock of the creatures will devour creatures as large as a Sasquatch. That said, they are not particularly aggressive, though they will attack anything they think threatens their territory.
Enemies: Kongamatus, American Wendigos, Beasts of Gevaudan, Thunderbirds
Prey: Anything human sized or smaller
Special Abilities: Athols can carry prey as large as a human, though it severely limits their speed, and they can emit supersonic screeches with disorientate prey and can occasionally cause brain damage.
